20260523 i took a two hour commute all the way to downtown Toronto to meet Shortbread and her sister. I kept tabs on the time, noticing i had half an hour left of time before i had to take the train back home to pick up my toddler from school.

I wandered around a music store with wood panels for walls. A taxidermied black bear stood by the entrance, wearing a hat. I talked to a store employee, who let me wander around while I waited.

Shortbread finally arrived, out of breath from running. "I got here as soon as I could!" she exclaimed as her sister strutted by her side without breaking out a sweat. She said something about Shortbread too long to get ready and missing the trains.

I felt disappointed. I told them it's already time for me to go.

I was driving in the countryside, on a steep slope. Stopping on the side of the road, I turned the engine off. When I got back into the car, I didn't turn it on, but disengaged the handbrake and shifted gear into drive. The car rolled down hill from gravity, picking up momentum. I tried to brake, but it did nothing and I panicked.

I kept rolling downhill until the end of the road where I was suddenly outside the car. I watched my little, white Fiat 500 drive off the cliff into the sea and get swallowed up by the endless abyss.

I sunk to my knees, heartbroken. My mum-in-law bought that car from me, and she had passed away recently. I went through the next steps in my head, where I had to call my father-in-law and embarrassing tell him I lost the car since he was paying for the insurance.
